Session 4: The politics of clean energy: Fuel cells and hydrogen on the road to
Copenhagen
9:00 – 10:45
De Gasperi room, 2nd floor, Charlemagne building
This session will focus on the political landscape, looking ahead to the
Copenhagen climate change summit. FCH technologies already have a great potential for contributing towards climate change goals with the 2020 targets in view. How can these technologies be promoted through policy and their potential for green-house gas reductions fully realised?

11:30-13:15
De Gasperi room, 2nd floor, Charlemagne building
The purpose of this session is to position fuel cells and hydrogen in the context of a rapidly changing global market for energy technologies. The debate will focus on opportunities for fuel cells and hydrogen in the various markets, together with competition and complementarities vis-à-vis other technologies. Where are fuel cell and hydrogen technologies placed in the energy economy of the future?

Session 6: Building an energy system on complementarities: Identifying synergies between European Technology Platforms
14:45 – 16:30
De Gasperi room, 2nd floor, Charlemagne building
The energy system of the future will be built on different technologies complementing each other. Embryonic European public-private partnership initiatives are being established in a number of these in the form of European Technology Platforms. Cooperation between them must be fostered in order to optimise the results for all concerned. This session will aim at identifying synergies between FCH technologies and other related initiatives and ways to best utilise them. Participants will represent members of the different technology platforms from both industry and academia, including in the fields of CCS, bio fuels, smart grids, advanced materials, energy efficient buildings and electric vehicles.
