Description
The Horizon 2020 QualyGridS research consortium is hosting the project's final workshop on qualifying test protocols for electrolysers to perform grid services. This virtual event will take place on Monday, June 29, from 13:00 to 15:00 CEST/UTC + 2 .
Project's results
The project developed new standardised qualifying testing protocols for electrolysers, which demonstrate that state-of-the-art low temperature electrolysers can perform grid balancing services (a.o. FCR, FRR and RR). Sustainable production of hydrogen is a key element of the European energy transition agenda, especially for seasonal and mobile energy storage purposes. Water electrolysers producing hydrogen from renewable electricity for decarbonisation in various sectors can improve their revenues by providing electricity grid services and lowering market entry for electrolysers. The project assessed the economic viability by analysing business cases of electrolysers performing grid services.
