The Clean Hydrogen Partnership has published the outcome reports of two high-level workshops on Electrolysis and Hydrogen Combustion, co-organised with Japan’s New Energy and Industrial Technology Development Organisation (NEDO). These events highlighted the strategic importance of international cooperation in accelerating hydrogen technologies and scaling up sustainable solutions worldwide.
Strengthening European Leadership in Electrolysis
The first workshop, held during European Hydrogen Week on 18 November 2024 in Brussels, focused on research and innovation in electrolysis. Discussions underlined the importance of aligning international testing standards with global partners to boost competitiveness and reinforce Europe’s leadership in electrolyser technologies.
Unlocking the Future of Hydrogen and Ammonia Combustion
The second workshop, hosted in Kobe (Japan) on 26 March 2025, explored the future of hydrogen and ammonia combustion technologies. A key outcome was a shared consensus: sustained research and innovation are critical to ensure that gas turbines, boilers, and burners can operate with up to 100% clean hydrogen at a commercial scale.
Have a look at the Outcome Reports:
- Workshop on Research & Innovation in Electrolysis – Brussels, 18 November 2024
- Workshop on Hydrogen and Ammonia Combustion – Kobe, 26 March 2025
These workshops build on the cooperation agreement signed in Tokyo in June 2024 and provide a blueprint for future international partnerships. They demonstrate how the Clean Hydrogen Partnership is uniquely positioned to connect regions, industries, and research communities in pursuit of shared climate and energy security goals.
As collaboration with NEDO continues to deepen, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership remains committed to expanding this cooperation, enhancing knowledge-sharing and driving impactful outcomes that will shape the future of clean hydrogen technologies.
