Advancing a Hydrogen Valley project along the project life cycle from concept to Final Investment Decision remains one of the challenges in the energy sector today. This new expert webinar series has been launched to support practitioners and developers navigate the complexities of regulatory uncertainty, cost pressures, offtake and more, and equip hydrogen developers, investors, policymakers and other practitioners with targeted knowledge needed to drive projects towards investment readiness.

About the expert webinar series "Advancing H2 projects to FID"
The expert webinar series follows a dedicated curriculum that translates real-world experience into actionable guidance across the four dimensions that are most decisive for project maturation: commercial, technical, regulatory and project governance.
Every two months starting in July 2026, a 90-minute expert-led webinar on one topic along these four dimensions will be held. The webinar series will be led primarily by Roland Berger experts, with selected sessions drawing on the perspectives from industry experts, policymakers and project developers.
The series is designed to serve a broad and diverse audience of hydrogen practitioners:
- Project developers and promoters will gain practical frameworks and concrete recommendations to strengthen their project concepts and accelerate development
- Investors and financiers will develop a deeper understanding of the conditions under which hydrogen projects become bankable and what distinguishes investment-ready Valleys from those still in development
- Policymakers and public authorities will benefit from ground-level insight into how regulatory design choices translate into real project momentum
The Expert webinar sessions on "Advancing H2 projects to FID" in 2026 will take place as follows:
🗓️ 16 July 2026, 9:30-11:00 CET: Commercial – H2 market & offtake: Overview of the current state of Europe’s post-hype hydrogen market, exploring the conditions under which viable offtake can be secured and how developers effectively structure offtake strategies to underpin bankable business cases
🗓️ 18 September 2026, 9:30-11:00 CET: Governance – Key steps in bringing Hydrogen Valley projects to FID: Insights on critical project development milestones and stage gate conditions from project structuring to financial close, in particular relevant for complex, multipartner Hydrogen Valley set-ups
🗓️ 17 November 2026, 9:30-11:00 CET: Regulatory – Regulatory insights on RFNBO vs. low-carbon hydrogen: Overview of the EU regulatory frameworks governing Low-Carbon Hydrogen (LCH) and Renewable Fuels of Non-Biological Origin (RFNBO), equipping developers, offtakers and policymakers with the knowledge to turn regulatory compliance into a strategic commercial lever and to integrate certification planning into project design from the outset.
