Final Report of the Study on “European Hydrogen Competitiveness and the Role of Innovation”

The Clean Hydrogen Partnership has published the final report of its latest study, “The Role of Innovation in Enhancing the Competitiveness of the European Hydrogen Sector”. The study provides an evidence-based assessment of Europe’s position in the global hydrogen landscape and examines the key factors shaping the sector’s future competitiveness, including the critical role of innovation.

Authored by ERM, the study highlights the strong innovation base that Europe has developed in recent years. The Clean Hydrogen Partnership has contributed significantly to this progress through sustained support for research, innovation, and demonstration activities across the hydrogen value chain.

The study also underlines that Europe now needs to translate this strong innovation base into competitiveness at scale. Research and innovation must increasingly be connected to the conditions that enable innovations to reach the market, achieve commercial viability, and scale.
