Description
The Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (JU) Synergies Strategy builds on the strong network of collaboration and synergies that the JU has already established with European, national, and regional initiatives. Its objective is to further strengthen and streamline these existing efforts, maximising the impact of the JU’s actions under the 2021–2027 Multiannual Financial Framework while laying the foundations for continued cooperation beyond it. Developed through extensive research and stakeholder consultation, the Strategy confirms that the JU is already operating within a rich ecosystem of partnerships and joint activities, including cooperation with other European partnerships, EU and international initiatives, and national and regional authorities. This provides a solid basis for further developing the JU’s role in accelerating Europe’s hydrogen transition.
Building on these achievements, the Strategy proposes eight strategic priorities to make existing synergies even more structured and impactful. These include strengthening monitoring and evaluation, enhancing coordination and governance, expanding successful partnership models, improving information-sharing tools, deepening cooperation with national and regional stakeholders, aligning research and policy processes, strengthening links across the innovation and deployment pipeline, and expanding international cooperation. Overall, the Strategy is designed to build on and amplify the JU’s existing strengths and experience, embedding synergies more strongly into its governance and planning. In doing so, it will further enhance the JU’s capacity to connect research, innovation, demonstration, and deployment, coordinate diverse actors and funding instruments, and contribute strategically to the continued development of Europe’s hydrogen ecosystem.
