Funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, the RUBY project has delivered a powerful new digital toolbox to boost the competitiveness of fuel cells. The solution combines real-time optimisation algorithms with advanced electrochemical impedance spectroscopy to monitor performance, detect faults and extend system lifetime at lower cost.
Validated on both proton-exchange membrane and solid oxide fuel cells, the technology achieved 100% fault detection and increased efficiency by up to 5% in stationary systems. The Clean Hydrogen Partnership funding underlines the project’s strategic role in accelerating reliable, affordable hydrogen-based energy solutions toward commercial deployment.
