The Call addresses key priorities (identified by the Strategic Research Agenda ) within different areas of research and innovation, with direct and quantified impact towards the achievement of the objectives of the Clean Hydrogen JU.

Evaluation results are expected to be communicated at the end of July – beginning of August 2024.

Update Call HORIZON-JTI-CLEANH2-2024 (04/03/2024)

The excel detailed budget table available in the SEP submission system “Download Part B templates” section had incorrect funding rate options of 60% and 100%. As of the 01/03/2024 , the issue has been rectified and the excel detailed budget table is now displaying the correct funding rate options of 70% and 100%. Please make sure you download and use the correct budget table in your submission.

* The European Commission in its communication “REPowerEU Plan” announced an additional investment of EUR 200 million available for the Clean Hydrogen JU for doubling the Hydrogen Valleys in the EU by 2025. In that respect, for the Call for Proposals 2024, up to 60 MEUR additional budget is available to top-up the allocated budget for hydrogen valleys under the Call for Proposals 2024 (EUR 20 million for HORIZON-JTI-CLEANH2-2024-06-01, EUR 9 million for HORIZON-JTI-CLEANH2-2024-06-02). This means that more than one (Hydrogen Valley) project per topic will be funded, according to the final ranking at the end of the evaluation process. 

The topics will be grouped into 8 Innovation Actions (IA), 11 Research and Innovation Actions (RIA) and 1 Coordination and Support Action (CSA). 

An important novelty in the Call for Proposals 2024 is that it will be implemented using lump sum grants.

Synergies with other European partnerships and programmes, as well as with Member States and regional programmes are at the core of a number of topics.

The notification of the call is available in 24 languages in the Official Journal.
