Success is stacking up for large-scale electrolysers
Europe is leading the way in the design, manufacturing and installation of MW-scale electrolysers for renewable hydrogen production at commercial scale. Successful projects funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership are progressing quickly towards the development, installation and operation of ever larger MW-scale electrolysers.
Advances in proton ceramic electrolysers lower costs, increase output
Proton ceramic electrolysis (PCE) is an emerging technology with advantages over traditional electrolysis methods for producing dry hydrogen. Projects funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership are focusing on developing PCE hydrogen production technologies, increasing efficiency and reducing costs.
Faster hydrogen refuelling of heavy-duty transport
To help decarbonise transport, the use of hydrogen to fuel heavy-duty vehicles like lorries is set to increase. The Clean Hydrogen Partnership funds projects that support the development of protocols and technologies needed to speed up refuelling of such vehicles while ensuring safety.
Hydrogen does the heavy lifting in Europe’s ports
To reduce pollution in Europe’s ports, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership is funding the development of zero-emission technology to replace the diesel-powered vehicles that move freight around container terminals and to provide clean power to ships while they are docked.
Standardised fuel cell components for heavy-duty vehicles
To enable fuel cell and hydrogen technologies to play a full role in decarbonising transport, standardisation of components and systems is vital. Funded by the Clean Hydrogen Partnership, the STASHH project is standardising fuel cell module for heavy-duty applications.
Providing the skills for a European hydrogen industry
With its European Skills Agenda and European Year of Skills, the EU has placed skills at the centre of its policies. The Clean Hydrogen Partnership is funding projects that provide training and education to build Europe’s hydrogen economy.
Hydrogen valleys: building a European clean energy system
Building on its R&I efforts and working with the private and public sector, the Clean Hydrogen Partnership is funding hydrogen valleys. Covering the entire value chain, hydrogen valleys aim to establish complete regional green ecosystems covering green hydrogen production, storage, distribution, and final use. Driven by renewable energy sources, hydrogen valleys can contribute to Europe’s green hydrogen economy and energy security.
