Agenda
Recommendations to ensure the timely development of hydrogen activities and infrastructure in EU port areas.
Key messages from the Report 2, which identifies current technological (R&I) challenges, gaps in safety regulations, codes and standards and non-technical (policy, regulatory, governance, strategic) barriers for various hydrogen activities and infrastructure that are expected to be rolled out in port areas. The study includes specific recommendations.
Real-life case studies showcasing the development of hydrogen activities and infrastructure in EU port areas.
Key messages from Report 3 (to be published in November 2023), which highlights, through the examination of real case studies, the technical and economic feasibility of developing a range of hydrogen-related activities in the vicinity of ports.
Case studies:
- Port of Pecém (Brazil) & Port of Rotterdam: Export/Import of renewable ammonia
- Port of Klaipeda: Hydrogen production
- The North Tyrrhenian Port Network Authority (Port of Livorno, Piombino and Portoferraio): Hydrogen consumption (shipping)
- Port of Antwerp-Bruges & Port of Duisburg: Decarbonization of port equipment
Panel discussion
High-level representatives from the EU port ecosystem involved in the study (to be announced soon) will share hands-on experience, highlight best practices, and discuss upcoming developments on the development of hydrogen-related activities and infrastructure in port and industrial coastal areas.
