Description
The European Green Deal recognised the importance of hydrogen in the clean energy transition and the topic has gained further traction in the discussions on the recovery strategies from the COVID-19 crisis. To boost the development and deployment of this technology and bring together investors, institutional, governmental and industrial partners, the European Commission announced the launch of the Clean Hydrogen Alliance a few months ago. However, how and to what extent the potential of both green and blue hydrogen will be deployed to ease the economic decline caused by the ongoing pandemic, as well as accelerate the transition to climate-neutrality, remains to be seen.
This Policy Dialogue will explore the part hydrogen can play in the clean energy transition, including barriers to the development and deployment of clean hydrogen, as well as the role of the EU and the economic stimulus measures in these efforts.
Speakers include Mirela Atanasiu, Head of Unit Operations and Communication Fuel Cells and Hydrogen Joint Undertaking (FCH JU), Noé van Hulst, Hydrogen Envoy at the Ministry of Economic Affairs & Climate Policy in the Netherlands, Grete Tveit and Dries Acke, Director for the Energy Systems initiative at the European Climate Foundation.
