The Clean Hydrogen Joint Undertaking organised in December 2022, with the support of the European Hydrogen Safety Panel (EHSP), a webinar on Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for hydrogen safety analysis.
To bring the benefits of hydrogen to society, hydrogen technologies must be safely developed and used across a variety of applications and sectors. The purpose of the webinar was to provide detailed guidance on the use of Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) for hydrogen safety analysis.
The EHSP experts provided an overview of the capabilities of CFD for supporting hydrogen safety analysis, and of the role and the use of CFD for hydrogen safety analysis in different hydrogen energy applications, such as consequence analyses, safety design, safety approvals, licensing permitting processes, demonstration of safety, etc. Lessons learned and best practices in the use of CFD for hydrogen safety aspects were also discussed.
The mission of the EHSP is to assist the JU both at programme and at project level in assuring that hydrogen safety is adequately managed, and to promote and disseminate hydrogen safety culture within and outside of the JU Programme.
